Electric Strikes-Behind The Scenes
Generally, electric strikes are offered as either fail-secure or fail-safe. Let’s see why they’re different:
-
Fail-Safe is when the electric current applied will result in locking the strike. These formations are always conducted through direct current. In the event of a power outage, the door can easily be opened by pulling or pushing it.
-
Fail-Secure are designed to have an electric current applied to the strike in order for it to unlock the unit. Depending on the power form selected, these strikes can either operate silently or with a slight buzz. In the event of a power outage the strike remains locked, however, you are able to use the mechanical lock to exit.
There are still many more decisions to make when deciding on the electric strike to best fit your unit. This is why you should contact Keymax Locksmiths to do an assessment of your unit and see which electric strike is best suited for your needs and surroundings—while still keeping in mind your wants and needs.
