Bolt Locks – The Different Varieties
Bolts are mechanisms designed to keep doors locked and secured. Let’s take a look at a few of the bolt locks we commonly use and see:
Barrel bolts (also known as a tower bolt) is a rod-shaped bolt that is used to fasten a door or something similar. It is attached to one side of the door and slides into a socket located on the frame of the opening. These types of locks are commonly seen in bathroom stalls or on residential doors as a secondary security lock to keep intruders out.
Flush bolts are most commonly used on pairs of doors and the surface bolt is projected from the frame head and into a floor strike to secure the door. These are usually seen on retail store doors. There are further details when deciding on the types of flush bolts you are looking to have installed according to the function you are looking to receive.
