Making way for the future: Push to Start Proximity Fobs

Push to start keys, commonly known as smart keys, are the newest style of keys providing us with a glimpse of the future technology to come.
This new system allows the driver to conveniently have the key fob in their pocket while still being able to unlock, lock and start the vehicle. All vehicles that have upgraded their systems to the push to start method have prepared their back up plan; also known as the emergency keys. The emergency key is the mechanical back-up, which is a key blade supplied with your vehicle in case your remote has any problems and you need to start the vehicle.
Did we mention some of the features that these smart systems include? For instance, there are various locking methods available with these new systems, such as: pressing a button on the fob, pressing a button on the door handle or just simply walking away from the vehicle. Some of these vehicles even automatically adjust the settings on the car (steering wheel position, seat position, stereo presets, etc ) based on the smart key used to start the vehicle.
If your vehicle only came with one smart key, we highly encourage our clients to have a spare key cut and programmed for emergencies. It is far more inexpensive to make a spare key than to make a key from scratch. Email us a picture and the details of your smart key, we will send you back a free quote–or call our office for over the phone help at 416 629 5636.
